Rossini Dining Chair by Sika Design
Supplied Through: Classic With A Twist
Since 1942, the natural material rattan has been the cornerstone of Sika-Design. With a mission to produce furniture from materials that have the least possible impact on the environment, and that have longevity and timeless style.
The Rossini chair, designed in 1993 through a collaboration between Knud Andreasen of Sika-Design and the Japanese designer Yamakawa, stands out as a notable piece in Sika-Design's Originals collection. Crafted by hand using rattan, it is recommended for indoor use and can also be used in covered outdoor areas, with aluminum versions for outdoor spaces.
Rattan is a resourceful material because of its quick replenishment and its preservation of forests. It grows very fast, taking just 5-7 years to regenerate. Rattan growth actual supports forestation sparing trees from being cut down to become support structures to aid the growth of rattan.
The aluminium products in the range are made from 50% recycled aluminium utilising available materials and reducing wastage from everyday items. At the end of life the materials can then be recycled again providing the perfect cycle.
